Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, we say so instead of estimating. We have not independently tested any device referenced here, and no figure on this page is our own measurement.

Compare Emcyte PRP systems

Every Emcyte PRP system concentrates platelets from the patient's own blood. They differ in how many devices the workflow uses, the platelet concentration they are built to reach, and the kit volumes available. PurePRP SP is manufacturer-reported to deliver up to roughly 9 billion platelets in a 7 mL dose (GS60) with under 1% red blood cells. Concentration in practice depends on the patient draw and protocol.

Three questions that decide the system

Single vs double spin

A single-spin process separates blood in one centrifugation step and is fast to run. A double-spin process adds a second step to further concentrate the platelet fraction. Every Emcyte PRP system above is double-spin; the single-spin option in the line is AbsolutePRP Gold.

Leukocyte-rich vs leukocyte-poor

Some protocols call for a leukocyte-rich preparation, others for leukocyte-poor. The choice is physician-directed by application; ask about the neutrophil handling for the volume you plan to run.

Kit volume by intent

Kits come in 30, 60, and 120 cc. Smaller volumes suit focal, single-site work; larger volumes suit multi-site or higher-volume final preparations. Match the volume to your typical case, not the maximum.

What these devices are cleared for

Emcyte's instructions for use define the labeled indication for the PurePRP Supraphysiologic Concentrating System as follows, quoted verbatim:

"The PurePRP® Supraphysiologic Concentrating System is designed to be used for the safe and rapid preparation of autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) from a small sample of blood at the patient's point of care. The PRP is mixed with autograft and allograft bone prior to application to an orthopedic site to improve bone graft handling characteristics."

The same document states: "The PRP prepared by this device has not been evaluated for any clinical indications." It also states that the safety and effectiveness of the device for in vivo indications such as bone healing and hemostasis have not been established, and that the PRP prepared by the device is not indicated for delivery to the patient's circulatory system.

Any application other than the labeled indication falls outside it. That is not unusual in this field, and it is not something PRP Direct can authorize, recommend, or direct. It rests on the independent clinical judgment of a licensed physician, exercised under their own license and their own informed-consent process. We sell equipment and publish what the manufacturer publishes about it. We do not advise on clinical application.
